Showhouse 2004
For the second consecutive
year, David Lees Productions produced the New York Showhouse for eBay. Designers
were chosen to decorate
rooms
with at least 90% of
the furnishings found on Bay. Everything
was made available for
purchase as part of a special charity auction
which benefited The Alpha Workshops, a non profit
design studio where
artists living with HIV train and work.
David Lees Productions also designed the Showhouse logo, invitations,
tickets,
journal, planned the opening
preview party and had another special task - see below!
Showhouse
basement transformed into a
“Fitness Getaway”
As a special request, eBay asked David Lees to design a fitness
area to showcase their
sporting goods category.
"The only space left was the basement! It was without windows and the
ceilings were extremely low." David's solution
used mirrors and drama to stretch the possibilities of the cramped space. The
solution was a tropical experience where one
might escape from the stresses of everyday life.
Take the virtual tour by clicking on
the underlined links below.
From the moment you
descended the staircase,
you were in another world. Walls, hand-painted palm leaves against
a Mediterranean-blue sky, lead you to a candlelit waterfall fountain and the
tropical retreat. The stage was set for a complete
workout experience.
State-of-the-art gym and aerobic equipment,
including the matching professional blue flooring,
were purchased on eBay. A stylish
refreshment cabana
offered a place to quench your thirst and re-energize your body.
To complete the
“fitness getaway” experience, David transformed a walk-in closet into a
relaxation deck on a cruise ship,
complete with “stretch bar” boat railing, deck chair and yoga mat. “Looking out
at sea miles from home it’s my idea of
serenity is at its best – and the perfect reward to a complete workout right in
your own home!”
